How do I join a session via Zoom?

All sessions occur via Zoom meetings. You can can join the meeting three ways: via your web browser, the Zoom app, or a phone call. The first step is always to find the Zoom meeting link. This link is sent in the original session confirmation email:

This email also has the calendar appointment file attached that when clicked will automatically add the appointment to your personal calendar. When the appointment is added to your calendar it also contains the Zoom meeting link:

In addition, the session reminder email you receive 1 day prior to your session also contains this link. When you are ready to join your session, regardless of join method, click this link. You will be taken to a webpage showing your meeting information:

The next steps depend on how you decide to join the meeting.

Zoom App

If you want to join the meeting via the Zoom app and you do not already have it installed, you can download it here. Once you click the Join Meeting link on the webpage shown above, you will be taken to a Zoom page where you are prompted to click the Open zoom.us button:

Click the button and your Zoom meeting will automatically open regardless of whether your Zoom app was previously open or not.

If you click the Join Meeting link before you have installed the Zoom app, you will be taken to the same Zoom page. On this page, click the download and run Zoom link:

This will automatically download the Zoom app. You will need to install it. Once installed, click the launch meeting link on the same Zoom page:

You will again be prompted to click the Open zoom.us button. Once you do, your Zoom meeting will automatically open.

Web Browser

If you would like to join the meeting from your web browser, simply click the Join Meeting link on the meeting information webpage (accessed from the Zoom meeting link described at the beginning of this article) and you will be taken to a Zoom page where you can click the join from your browser link:

You will be prompted to input your name and confirm you are not a robot:

Click the Join button and that's it. You have joined the meeting!

Phone Call

The meeting information webpage (accessed from the Zoom meeting link described at the beginning of this article) shows the Meeting ID. You will need this when you call in. Use any of the following Zoom call-in numbers to access the meeting:

  • +1 (301) 715-8592 (Germantown)

Once you call, you will be prompted to enter your Meeting ID followed by the # sign. Next, you will be prompted to enter your Participant ID followed by the # sign or to just type # to continue. There is no Participant ID for your meeting, so just type # to join the meeting. Once you join, you will be put on hold until I start the meeting.
